Tips on losing weight?

So I'm currently around 240 lbs, and roughly 4 months away from Prom, 5 months away from graduation. My personal goal is to loose 100 pounds by prom. I don't drink anything but water, milk, or on rare occasions small amounts of 100% natural juice. I do have poor eating habits as to when I eat, but do not eat foods that are bad for my health. I go to the gym for 2 hours every day, and almost an hour is dedicated to cardio only. I don't need a bunch of cynical morons telling me 100 in 4 months is unhealthy just because they want 2 points to make them feel special. I know it's 'unhealthy'
and I also know what my body is capable of handling. I just need some tips that will help me jump start my weight loss.

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Any tips on Full Body Detox?

a friend and i have started working out together and part of that is eating better. we were interested in doing a full body detox and cleansing for the health aspect. however, we don't want to go the drugstore route with dietary supplements nor are we interested in the laxative treatment. i know there is a natural, healthy way out there, but we are having trouble finding something that will work and is safe. a routine or guide to follow would be most helpful. thank you!

Tips for a Total body Cleanse to Detox Your Body:

* First do no harm! A number of body cleanse detox products are ineffective and dangerous.
* Drink plenty of water to help detox your body.
* Eliminate foods containing toxins and increase your intake of foods containing vitamins and nutrients. Also increase fiber intake.
* A natural body cleanse detox starts in the mind. The more mentally prepared you are for your total body cleanse, the greater your chance of success.

Various herbs can assist in a total body cleanse. Dandelion and Fennel aid in a natural body cleanse by detoxifying the system, rejuvenating liver functioning and kick-starting the body back to life.

I have an idea, teen health?

I've tried exersicing until I pass out, running on 800 calories a day, alli pills, fasting, and all of the above combined. No fat loss! i actually gained a few :(. I've tried clearasil, acnefree, clean & clear, cetaphil (worked okay :) ), neutrogena, and MINOCYCLINE! I still have acne. I'm not fat, and I don't have extreme severe ance. But I don't have a flat tummy, or a clear face. Well yes, I have to exercise no matter what to lose weight, and I will always have to wash my face…. but it would be a lot easier to deal with both of these problems at once, right? Both of these problems are linked to nutrition and hormones. Over this past year, I've collected a bunch of information and tips. Acai berry vitamins, fish oils, multivitamins for teens, and WATER, oh and being cold! Weird huh? Well I think it's worth a shot right? This will take a week… and being inpatient hasn't worked for me for two years! So here's my plan!

Rules:
1. Drink a minimum of 60 oz. of water per day!
2. Exersice at least 45 mins a night (just walking around the mall counts!) to speed up your metabolism. Everyday of the week, we're kids, that's what we should do anyway!
3. Fast-Food = Fast calories, and zits… look up how many calories & and fat are in a big mac, you'll see what I mean! So choose something on the menu that isn't greasy or fried.
4. No soda, sorry… but It's horrible for you. drink 100% juice instead if you're craving a sweet drink, that way you settle your craving, and get a full serving of fruit! Besides, pop was proven to actually make you thirstier!
5. Use the food pyramid to plan your meals, it's the only thing that works really!
6. Junk food is Okay!(not really a rule but..)… IN MODERATION. 200 calories of cheetos a day is fine!
7. Don't take pills for acne or weight loss, because weight loss pills can make you breakout, and acne pills can cause weight gain, and both can cause depression!
8. Natural is always best. Choose carrots over chips, and choose a honey/ oatmeal mask over benzoyl peroxide (GAVE ME TEMPERARY WRINKLES).
9. Be happy. If you're feeling sorry for yourself and being sad sitting on the couch hating life, why don't you get up and dance? It send endorphines to your brain(makes you feel great!), and burns calories! WOW!
10. Don't do it in vane, do it for health!

IMPORTANT MUSTS:
1. Fish oils, omega 3,6,9!
2. Multi vitamin, (teen ones).
3. Wash face with mild soap twice daily (such as cetaphil).
4. Moisturize! Believe it or not moisturizing actually helps get rid of acne! (oil-free moisturized, again I suggest ctaphil products!)
5. Never eats UNDER 1500 calories a day…. starving actually leads to weight gain, weird right?
6. Get a buddy, someone to talk to about exersices and acne progress, and just for motivation!
7. Never skip out on fruits and veggies and whole grains! =]
8. Fiber tablets are great, there flavored and chewable, and help your body with digestion and much more!
GOOD LUCK!!! =]
OOPS I didn't realize I put it in pregnancy and parenting…. I'm fourteen not a parent. =]
This isn't really a question, I just could never find anything on YA, so I decided to put everything I've learned together for all my fellow teens.
Any questions, or concerns email me!

try proactive, it works great

Women's health question.?

My boyfriend says I taste very salty, so I was wondering what I could do to prevent that. Should I watch my sodium intake more carefully? Or could it be natural? I don't have anyone else's opinion about it.

Really I am just looking for a little advise or some tips to help me get rid of this problem.

It could be you need to cut back on your salt intake, or you are not drinking enough fluids. Or a combinatation of the two.

My husband says I always taste sweet, and I like sweets, so I guess it's true what they say, "you are what you eat" lol

Any one know all natural ways to keep the bugs off garden besides poison?

When I was in 6th grade they used to spray strong bug spray in my part of the building, you could even smell it, I used to put my sleeve over my face. And all over the hall, especially the end by the back door, there was always a LOT, I mean I LOT of dead cock roaches, you had to tip toe over them to get in the classroom.

Then in 7th or 8th grade. A lot of my previous classmates went to my same junior high. And told me that BOTH of my teachers on each side of the hall, at the end of the hall, by the back doors died of cancer.

And when I got to my friends house outside the city, I see planes spraying chemicals on the crops. and there are warnings that people who are surrounded by crops that spray poison have a higher risk of health issues. Like asthma or something.

And well. I don't want to eat that. I don't want to spray harsh chemicals on my food everyday, then wash it off and eat it. That just cant be good.

So im going to have my own garden.

Any one know all natural ways to keep the bugs off. What do you do? Spray water on it everyday? Vinagre? Lemon juice?
(ps. Im asking this in the alternative med section, because i figured people in here know a lot of places to get organic stuff)

Technically, to do what you're asking, you really want to just get out of the mentality of put ___ on plants to make the bugs go away. Even if you use a much less toxic substance (ie. a natural one) it still has issues.
There are two other modes of farming/agriculture that work quite well however. The first is biodynamic, the second is permaculture. Both are built around manipulating the ecosystem such that it deals with the pests for you instead of requiring you to add in substances to get the job done.

The simplest biodynamic one is to buy some praying mantis's and let them loose in the garden. If you live in a climate where they can survive, the mantis's will eat all the bugs present [they work really well; much better than pesticides especially in gardens].

Alternatively you can do the permaculture approach. The exact ecosystem you are going to want to design varies by the area (and you should probably buy a permaculture book, download a torrent on the subject or google the plants you want + permaculture), but essentially, if you pick the right plants to plant (generally the key is to have a large variety of mostly native ones), bugs will just leave your garden alone, and definitely be enough of a problem to actually eat your crops up.

I'm really a huge fan of the praying mantis's though!

Health:What kind of habits should we practice to make ourselves and others healthy?

What kind of habits should we practice to make ourselves and others to have a healthy body and healthy mind.

In a completely natural way!

I believe its Yoga,Pranayamam and eating clean and balanced food[halal, sattvik].

http://www.medicaltourindia.com/health-tips.asp

Hi. Going vegetarian or vegan is a great healthy way to lower your risks of cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure. We also shouldn't smoke or take illegal drugs and only drink alcohol in moderation. Even if you just cut red meat out your diet you're still cutting down your fat consumption. Red meat isn't exactly clean and is full of fat and bacteria. Hope I helped.

realization time, anyone have tips please. MAKEUP/BODY. ASAP:)?

hello!
well here is the deal, i am in 9th grade and im skinny … i am working on eating healthier and im in soccer which i do everyday… so skinny is in my genes or whatever and im not trying to change myself i just wanna also be strong and not brittle. well ive been thinking lately about beauty and how i want to look like these girls i know who are covered in makeup and beautiful but then i thought about how they must look with their hair natural and n makeup and i have been thinking i wanna look good without it all an work on that more.. i wanna wear makeup but i DONT wanna be that kinda girl who cant leave the house without ya know?

so here i go again, any tips/ideas for self confidence and how i can achieve the no makeup look without feeling down about my acne scars that i barely have but of coarse i notice them and pimples. i dont wanna just all of a sudden stop but idk how to achieve it… and maybe any tips for gaining weight maybe some yummy health foods you eat .. i love trying new things:) thanks everyone .. oh and tips for GROWING OUT MY HAIR HAHA .. i cut it and im ready for it to be long again:)))

MAKE UP: Lets start with make up. It is okay if you wear a little make up. I don't recommend trying to be like some of the other girls who wear a bunch for a few reasons. First, to much make up actually takes away from your natural beauty. Usually when girls wear that much they are insecure and if they ever do decide to leave the house wearing less everyone notices. Second, guys like girls who wear less make up. If you ask almost any guy they prefer natural beauty. I recommend on days you feel like getting a little more glammed up or you are making plans with friends that you put on a little mascara and a little lip gloss. You will be surprised how much it will enhance your beauty while it still looks like your wearing no make up. It's a great beauty secret. If you are going to a party throw on a little blush to define your cheekbones and give a little color.

CONFIDENCE- Be happy in your body. So many girls would kill to be naturally thin. If you want to build more muscle and look less brittle just keep up with the soccer. Doing sports helps build muscle. If you want your legs to appear less brittle as well try doing sprints. It is the fastest way to get more muscular legs. For your arms, lift weights. Part of being confident is feeling good in your own skin. Just walk with your head high and have good posture. Don't slump when you walk in a room. Keep your shoulders broad and smile. You sound like a gorgeous girl so embrace it. If you are doing soccer everyday and are naturally skinny you are without a doubt naturally toned and have a great body.

SKIN: You are a teenager so you will always get a few pimple here and there but there is a huge difference from pimples and full blown acne and scars. I am sure you do not have acne scars because those don't appear for a long period of time and they are literally permanent craters in your skin. If you want to keep your skin under control wash morning and night with a salicylic face wash to clear existing pimples and remove any dirt, oils, or bacteria in your pores. I also recommend Clearasil Ultras face pads. Wipe your face with them morning and night and your skin will always be fresh and clean. It has always worked for me. You can find it at any Walmart, Target, CVS, etc. for about $5.

FOODS: Stay away from breads, desserts, and food with a high amount of sugar and carbs. Also choose water of soda if you are going out to eat or debating what drink to have with lunch. Some good healthy food that are actually very good are Snap Pea Crisps. You can no buy them at any Super Walmart, Sweetbay, or Publix. There super yummy and even better with hummus.

HAIR: My only tips for growing your hair is first, keep it healthy. Do a deep condition once a week and if your ever using heating products to style it use a spray or serum to protect your hair before styling. Healthy hair grows faster then damaged. Also going for trims every 6 weeks is important. It gets rid of split ends and actually helps hair grow faster. Just eat healthy. When eating bad, processed foods acutally makes the hair growing process slower.

Hope this helped <33

Arthritis Pain - Hot Tips To Help You Get Rid Of It Forever

I got rid of my arthritis and arthritis pain forever by doing one single thing - read on. Getting rid of my arthritis pain, without drugs, was one of the best things that's ever happened to me.

Arthritis pain can be experienced whenever a stiff or swollen joint is used. The pain in arthritis can be moderate to severe. Arthritic joints appear to be larger, are stiff and painful, and usually feel worse the more they are used as the day progresses.

Cartilage contains a high percentage of water, but it decreases with age. It's important to learn plenty of facts about joints and arthritis to help you understand how to treat arthritis better. Cartilage contains chondrocytes, water, proteoglycans and collagen; chondrocytes are the basic cartilage cells and are necessary for balance and function.

As chondrocytes (the cells that make up cartilage) age, they lose their ability to make repairs and produce more cartilage; this process may play an important role in the development and progression of osteoarthritis. Injuries sometimes can be the start in the arthritic disease process; osteoarthritis can develop years later even after a single traumatic injury to a joint or near a joint.

An inflammatory response causes cytokines, to gather in injured areas and cause inflammation and damage to body tissue and cells; it's known to play a role in rheumatoid arthritis and other muscle and joint problems associated with autoimmune diseases.

For snacks, choose raw nuts without salt instead of lifeless roasted nuts. A study in Great Britain touted the beneficial effects of cod liver oil on osteoarthritis; relieving pain and stiffness, and reversing the destruction of joint cartilage within 24 hours. Not a food, but many, including one well-known professional golfer, still wear copper bracelets and swear by them.

Many arthritis sufferers have changed their diets and noticed significant or total improvement. Nutrition experts say it takes a combination of supplements, that no one supplement can relieve arthritis pain, build cartilage, etc. Studies done on antioxidant vitamins question the value of these supplements; it's clearly better to consume these antioxidants in living foods because they may also need to work with other nutrients present in the foods to work properly.

I know quite a few people who are drinking tart cherry juice to relieve their arthritis pain; has to the tart kind though. If you're not already doing so, make a big effort to watch your diet. One natural approach is to consume foods that are known to help relieve arthritis pain or prevent arthritis. For natural treatment for arthritis make an appointment with a naturopathic doctor, called a naturopath; ask around for referrals.

Use Taiji health balls, with the chimes, to strengthen the finger joints: hold two balls, move in a clockwise circle with your fingers to rotate them, then try counterclockwise and do throughout the day. To be on the safe side always seek your doctor's advice before starting or changing your exercise program. Important exercises for arthritis are range-of-motion exercises, isometrics, and some weight bearing exercises. Try to keep painful joint areas in motion, even in a limited manner.

Sign up for water aerobics classes at your local community center. Exercise your affected joints every day, to keep them flexible. Even the lightest exercise can go a long way to maintaining your joint mobility and overall health.

Conventional doctors may suggest the standard protocol for your joint pain; they tell you to take over-the-counter NSAIDS or prescribe COX-2 inhibitors, of which all have side effects. Be aware that the use of NSAIDs or Cox-2 inhibitors do not halt the progress of osteoarthritis and may even hasten the onset. For conventional treatment of arthritis - if you do choose to take drugs or medications, be very careful and read the labels thoroughly.

Arthritis pain relief is the ultimate goal - understanding arthritis is a good way to get there. I got rid of my arthritis pain years ago when I stopped eating dead food and changed my diet to all living foods; you can do it too. Begin your treatment program with a diet change, exercise and weight loss plan to see results and pain relief fast.

Breathing Techniques for anxiety?

Hi, My chest been hurting for a few days now due to anxiety and I need some tips on breathing techniques to help me reduce the anxiety and I opened mind and don't know any breathing techniques of any kind I picked up somethings from the natural health food store to help to but I would like to know some techniques I can use to help me out.

I am looking at ways to reduce my stress in life and I am going to be going to a phyratrist in May.

What helped you and some links may be benifical too.

Thank you(s).

1. Sit comfortably.
2. Take a long, deep breath and exhale it slowly while saying the word "relax" silently.
3. Close your eyes.
4. Let yourself take ten natural, easy breaths. Count down with each exhale, starting with "ten."
5. This time, while you are breathing comfortably, notice any tensions, perhaps in your jaw or forehead or stomach. Imagine those tensions loosening.
6. When you reach "one," open your eyes again.
