From Bad To Worse Situation Of Swollen Gums

The gums, the ligaments, and the underlying bone itself are referred to as the periodontium. Periodontal disease develops when bacteria build up and form plaque on the teeth near the gums, or between the gums and the root surface. The most common form of periodontal disease is gingivitis, which is inflammation of the gums. In gingivitis, the gums are typically swollen and red and may bleed during brushing. These problems reverse rapidly after the plaque is removed. With proper care, your teeth and gums can stay healthy throughout your life. The healthier your teeth and gums are, the less risk you have for tooth decay and gum disease. Visit your dentist at least once every six months. To maintain healthy teeth and gums, it's important to have regular check-ups and professional cleanings. You should also see your dentist if you have pain in your teeth or mouth, or bleeding, swollen gums.
