Smoking And Too Much Exertion Should Be Avoided After A Periodontal Surgery

It is a must for smokers to refrain from smoking after having periodontal surgery. Your gums will be irritated by heat and smoke, and moreover it can delay the healing process. And it is the high time that smokers use the opportunity to quit smoking, if possible. Smokers are at risk for gum disease compared to non-smokers.

Your dentist may suggest that you should not brush over the periodontal pack. You may normally brush on the areas of the mouth that are not covered by the pack. Dentist may also recommend the use of an all natural mouth rinse. You may continue with your daily routines but you should avoid too much exertion of any type. For a few days of operation, sports you engage in like golf, lawn tennis, bowling, or swimming should be postponed for a few days after the periodontal surgery.
